Syed Amin ul Haq, the minister of information technology and telecommunications, promised that the effort will assist in further expanding the IT industry and its export at an exponential pace when he announced the new date. The minister expressed confidence that the new deadline for the deployment of 5G technology will be fulfilled without further delay while speaking at a ceremony at the UBIT Career Fest 2022, which was organized by the Department of Computer Science at the University of Karachi.
“Our IT industry has already experienced tremendous growth,” he remarked. The IT and telecommunications industry has had the largest rise in exports when compared to Pakistan’s other 43 ministries. In contrast to the 47.44 percent rise in IT and telecom exports during the same period, other ministries’ exports have only climbed by 2 to 3 percent in recent years. The minister said, “It reflects the promise that we need to capitalize on.”
The young IT graduates can seize the expanding opportunities being offered by the IT companies amid huge funding of $373 million from the government for the startups, he claimed, demonstrating how industry and universities can work together to meet future employment needs.
