A few weeks ago, the Moke International Electric Moke Californian made its premiere without any pricing details. Today, the business declared that the price of the EV headed for the US will be $41,900. Starting today, interested clients may reserve a construction space by paying a $990 refundable reservation fee.
A 44-horsepower (33-kilowatt) rear-mounted electric motor powers the new Moke Californian, which is now all electric. It is more potent than the gas version that was released in the US in the late 1970s and only generated 39 horsepower (29 kW). It’s not a great boost, but it’s enough to reduce the car’s time from 6.3 seconds to 4.3 seconds to reach 34 mph (55 km/h).
The Californian, which is only available in the US and is the first new Moke to be sold here since 1982, is highway-legal due to its peak speed of 50 mph (80 kph). This is the first time a Mini Moke model in the US is permitted to go on public roads. It has a range of up to 80 miles (120 km), however, that estimate is based on the merciful WLTP testing cycle. In the US, we anticipate receiving less than that. The firm claims that using a Type 1 charger requires a four-hour recharge time.
Just 325 automobiles will be produced annually in the US by Moke. This comes after the 2015 Low Volume Motor Vehicles Manufacturers Act, which was established and permits legacy companies like Moke to develop versions of any of their vehicles that are over 25 years old. However, they must adhere to the most recent Federal motor vehicle safety regulations.
The Moke Californian may currently be configured as well. Wave Blue, Sunset Orange, Sunlight Yellow, Scuba Blue, and Granite Gray are the five exterior colors that the firm provides. The complete canopy with doors is the sole add-on that is optional, although there is no cost for the change.
Before they were well-liked by farmers, Moke began by producing light military vehicles. It became widely enough known by the late 1970s to export a more contemporary Mini Moke version to the US, and the rest is history. The business did not specify when it will start making deliveries.
