Enaam Ahmed, a talented Formula One driver of British and Pakistani descent, recently made headlines for posting the third-fastest time during the morning practice on the 2.4-mile road track at the prestigious Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The practice was conducted in advance of Round 2 of the Firestone Indy NXT Championship, which is known for featuring some of the finest racers who drive their vehicles around the 14 bends of the road course.
Twenty drivers participated in the practice session, including Ahmed, who was competing against numerous seasoned drivers. His third-best time of 1:14.86 was particularly impressive given the competition, with only Hunter McElrea of New Zealand recording a quicker time of 1:14.62.
Ahmed, who was born in London to Pakistani parents, has been breaking records and winning titles since he was just 14 years old. He is not only the most successful Pakistani-descent racing driver in the annals of motorsport, but also the most successful British Formula 3 driver in history.
In fact, Ahmed has already achieved a number of impressive feats in his career. He broke the records of Formula One drivers Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen by becoming the first and only Pakistani to win a World Championship in Karting. He also beat Ayrton Senna’s record of 13 victories in a season and won the British Formula 3 Championship, becoming Pakistan’s first-ever high-level Formula Championship champion.
Ahmed’s passion for racing began when he was just eight years old, and his parents supported his interest by enrolling him in kid-friendly local Go-Karting courses. Little did they know that their son would grow up to win the European and World Championships at the age of 14 – one year before Lewis Hamilton, who was 15 at the time.
Now 23 years old, Ahmed is creating waves throughout the world with his winning streaks on challenging courses, driving automobiles at an average speed of 200 mph while proudly flying both the Pakistani and British flags. He has also gained the support of Pakistani professionals working in the US who are eager to see him race in the Indy 500 in 2024, the sport’s grandest event.
Ahmed’s next competition will take place at Birmingham, Alabama’s Barber Motorsports Park on April 30. He is considered one of the most talented and fascinating young racers in all of motorsport, and his impressive achievements at such a young age suggest that he has a bright future ahead of him in the world of racing.
