ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) set the date for the hearing of a plea asking for the disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

According to the suit, the PTI leader allegedly withheld information on his supposed daughter Tyrian Jade White.

The hearing for the petition, submitted by a person by the name of Mohammad Sajid, will take place on December 20 before Chief Justice IHC Aamer Farooq, according to the cause list published by the registrar’s office.

The federal government, Khan, and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) have all received pre-admission notifications from the court and have been instructed to help determine whether the petition can be maintained.

The individual claims that Imran Khan gave false information when he submitted his candidacy papers for the past general elections, which is why he is pleading for the former prime minister to be disqualified. The former prime minister has three children, but he only disclosed the existence of two of them in the press, the speaker said.

The court questioned the petitioner’s attorney during the prior session about whether the IHC could consider the case based on Article 199 or if it should go to the ECP.

While citing legal precedence, the petitioner’s attorney suggested the court check into the situation. The court has the authority to consider the case, he continued, even if there is a factual dispute.

The IHC sent Khan a notice on the same subject on December 8.

The PTI head was accused of disqualification for failing to provide details about his childhood in his nomination papers, and the court had last month reserved judgment on the plea’s viability.

In 2018, a person by the name of Abdul Wahab Baloch brought a complaint to the IHC asking for the former prime minister Khan’s disqualification for hiding facts concerning White.
