On November 3, while leading the party’s lengthy march in Wazirabad, Punjab, the PTI leader was wounded in a shooting. Moazzam Nawaz, a PTI supporter, died in the event, while Imran and 14 other people were injured. Police quickly detained the culprit after that.
Imran asserted that his attacker’s profile had previously been created and did not resemble a religious zealot in an interview with German international television DW on Thursday. He continued, “This was a trained shooter; he was not a religious fanatic.”
The PTI chairman further reaffirmed his allegation that there were two gunmen, claiming that it was “confirmed” that one shooter was firing from the front using “different rounds.”
He reiterated his assertion that the government was behind the assault, asserting that he was previously aware of the scheme and that it had been developed two months prior.
Imran charged extrajudicial executions and the “Model Town massacre” with involvement by interior minister Rana Sanaullah and prime minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Killing is nothing new for them. They were working together, he said, “including the military intelligence personnel. The PTI chairman claimed that the “intelligence person” was renowned for and had a history of “bumping off individuals.”
Imran further asserted that he would be able to provide an inquiry with all available circumstantial evidence in support of his accusations. “Whenever there is an impartial inquiry, these three will be [found] implicated,” he continued.
When asked about his lengthy protest and call for new elections, Imran said that he was taking these actions in light of the current state of the nation and in an effort to prevent it from reaching a “point of no return.”
He predicted a four-week recovery time.
