The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Finance Department has instructed the accountant general and all district account officers to pay the wages and pension of all public sector employees on the first of each month in an effort to erase the uncertainty surrounding the provincial government’s capacity to pay its employees on time.
The department gave them instructions in a circular to create the pay bill until the end of each month and distribute the salary and pension on the first.
The circular, according to officials, is intended to put a stop to misunderstandings and rumors regarding the timely payment of wages and pensions to the employees.
According to several sources, the federal government has stopped releasing cash to the K-P administration, which means the provincial government is unable to pay its employees on time. Due to the province’s last month’s salary delays, the rumors have only become stronger.
According to media sources, the government won’t be able to pay workers again next month as a result of the financial crisis.
