On Saturday, two soldiers were martyred after an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded on a security forces vehicle in the general area of Bara, Khyber District. The soldiers, Naib Subedar Hazrat Gul and Sepoy Nazir Ullah Mehsud were 37 and 34 years old respectively, and residents of Lower Dir and South Waziristan. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement condemning the attack and stating that the area was being sanitized to eliminate any terrorists.
The ISPR also reiterated Pakistan’s determination to eliminate terrorism and praised the soldiers’ sacrifice, saying it only strengthens their resolve. This incident came just days after an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in South Waziristan’s Shin Warsak area, where eight terrorists were killed, including a local commander named Jan Muhammad alias Chargh. During the operation, Sepoy Hamid Rasool, a 31-year-old resident of Rawalpindi, fought gallantly but ultimately embraced martyrdom. The ISPR confirmed that four personnel, including two officers, were injured during the operation.
The ISPR praised the Army troops for their effective engagement with the terrorists’ location and the recovery of weapons and ammunition from the killed terrorists. The killed terrorists were known to be actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and the killing of innocent citizens. The ISPR further reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism and praised the bravery of the soldiers who fought to protect their country.
The recent uptick in terrorist activities has led to increased security operations across the country, with the military determined to root out all terrorists and protect the citizens of Pakistan. The sacrifices of soldiers like Naib Subedar Hazrat Gul, Sepoy Nazir Ullah Mehsud, and Sepoy Hamid Rasool only serve to strengthen their resolve in this fight. The ISPR has called for the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities, emphasizing that the fight against terrorism requires the support and cooperation of all citizens.
